Sadly Cthulu's children do not have the ability to control time around them. So they can not stop what is about to happen. Jon hits the Cthulu spawn head-on.
It gurgles in pain. Then lashes out with the knife and it's claws. While the knife is not magical the claws have been dipped in a poison that reacts much like fear gas.
