A telepathic assault wasn't expected, but it was slightly welcomed. Trigon twitched in response, but was very capable of fending off a telepathic assault. he did just that, and kept Ty's prying mind from reaching Steve's.
"You dare try to reach into this mind? You will soon learn that you cannot penetrate this mind."
The ants were being taken down by the mystical fire coating Ty's body, which ruled out the attempt to assault Ty's brain. So instead, Trigon reverted back to physical attacks.
The dragon breathed fire at Ty.
