Death is not instantaneous when one's heart is torn from their chest. The time from assault to death varies from person to person but thirty seconds is a solid average, enough time to understand. As Giselle's hand pulls back and takes her heart with it J'anna, falls to her knees and looks up at Tim.
"I'm sorry..."
It's not her life she's concerned with. All she understands is that she's failed to save him.
"Tim..."
Her body hits the floor with a soft thud.
