Rex is now on the defensive, barely able to keep the blows raining down upon him from taking him out in one shot. He parries, then parries again, but one of the blows clips him near the eyebrow.
Only the grace of the gods keeps his helmet, and his skull behind it, from cracking.
Were it just him, alone, Rex would have no compunctions about fighting until the end. He knows he can beat this psycho.
But the longer this goes, and the more he can hear the screams of his teammates, he realizes that this isn't about him, and he makes the only decision a leader can make.
He ducks the next set of blows and rolls away from Chay-ara moving to get to the first person that he can see needs help.
