Rex pops the top on the bottle and takes a long pull. "I didn't ask for great beer. I'll get that after this whole fiasco is over. I'm also gonna take my kid sister out to lunch and then have some quality time with my girlfriend." Rex tells Mark.
He thinks about Mark's words on Khufu and Chay-ara. He doesn't know the entire story on the curse that Carter and his mother labor under, but he knows it was the main factor in the disintegration of his parents' marriage.
"I don't know what else Nabu knows about those two, but /I/ know this much. I find those two again and it's /over/ for both of them. But I'm worried about what we're seeing now. We've seen dead people that are important to us all in some way come back. Mickey and Zandor...I still can't believe we didn't know about Zan." Rex says quietly.
"It makes me wonder who else is dealing with this out there. We need to get in touch with the Justice League and the Titans. But I don't care how many of the dead they send at us; we're going to put them all back in the ground where they belong and give them peace." Rex vows.
(WILL)
Rex is shocked when ring grafts itself to his finger, and he can only stare at it in shock for a moment. He remembers hundreds of times when, as a boy, he would ask his dad to show him how the ring works just one more time. Over the years, Rex had always wondered if he possessed the inner power, the courage and the fortitude to follow in his father's footsteps.
Now he has his answer.
"Yes, I accept." he says, as he is bathed in emerald light.
Like father, like son, Dad.
