Together again for the first time

Ra's al Ghul's relationship with Gotham City is formed of love and hate. He hates this cesspool of corruption and decay and wishes to see it wiped from the Earth. He's tried several times, but each time, he is always thwarted by the man who embodies the things he loves about Gotham.

The Detective.

Batman is the most formidable opponent that Ra's al Ghul has ever known, the only man who can come close to matching his own brilliance. This city shaped a young boy who witnessed his parents' murders into an incorruptible symbol of justice and hope for those who had none. There were days that Ra's mocked the Detective for his drive, told him that he would eventually burn away his family's fortune on a fools' quest to eliminate crime in Gotham. But Ra's had always respected Batman's determination as well, for it matched his own.

But that is not why he has come to Gotham this time. He will renew the war between himself and Batman soon enough.

Today, he is here for someone else.

Jane Doe-Smith both intrigues and confuses Ra's al Ghul, because he knows nothing about her, a situation he is not often in. The pictures upon her walls, the papers on her desk and even the items in her kitchen give him pieces of the puzzle, but not all. He recognizes the man in the pictures with Jane; he'd been forced by that ingrate demon, Nekron, to go after him while chasing his worthless granddaughter, Morgaine.

Now, he waits in Jane's apartment for her to return, as he has for the last two days, with a fresh batch of flowers.

He hopes she'll at least allow him to speak.
