Max was heading inside when he saw a guy he'd never seen before grab Professor Fredericks, a member of the school board and heft him up by the shirt.

"What the hell? Hey buddy, what're you do..." Max didn't see the backhand, but he sure felt it. The blow had sent him flying several feet. "O..kay, I'm a man..I can say it..ouch."
