Apparently despite not lifting the hammer himself, but with the power of his rings, the hammer sound sense the unworthiness of the ring wielder and would not move. When Sarah channels power into it, the constructs around it shatter. Mongul's is startled by the sudden burst of power, weakening his ties to the other constructs, and temporarily blinding him.
