Max had left Titans Tower to pick up batteries. Imagine having all the technology to work on, but nobody had thought to get batteries? Well, it's not as if they don't have important stuff to do. Perhaps he just resented having to go out in public? Most likely.
"Wait a minute," he muttered to himself. Didn't that woman leave the store earlier? And if he wasn't crazy, he was positive that guy had just been a few feet away but he was now several blocks over. "What the hell?"
