"Yeah, I got cocky," she gripes slowly. Then she shakes her head.

"I would if I could. would be nice to do a job I felt was worth the effort." She's not happy about her situation. She really wants to cut her losses but a sense of loyalty to her teacher is the only reason she's staying.
