She had no idea she wasn't the only gate-crasher. She was just trying to blend in as best she could. She thought it was a little pathetic that most people didn't even look at her as a threat twice. They of course looked again for other reasons but it was the same for her and a gaggle of other very pretty women who were getting their pick of dance partners at this thing.
She really didn't want to try dancing. She had seen just how bad some of the guys were. She just had to blend in and wait until she was sure she could start the job officially.
