Jay's blows dented the metal tentacles, enough to cause Kardiak to retract them in concern. The force-fields had also surprised it, particularly when its flame was redirected at it. Despite its new-found sentience, Kardiak still retained a strong animal-like instinct. Fighting wasn't working, so it was time for flight. Karidak whipped its tentacles against the walls, desperately trying to make a hole large enough to escape through.
