Riley thinks carefully before speaking again. He puts his hands behind his head and looks off into the distance.
"I... I've had to watch things.
Terrible things.
Things right in front of me I couldn't do anything about because they'd already happened and even if they were terrible, changing them could undo so many other things."
He looks at Max. "If Ruth were herself, she'd tell you you did the right thing."
