Watching (for Robin)
She was just watching, for now. Iota flitted at superhuman speed from cover to cover as she followed the cartel operatives. Just... you now. To see how they were adjusting in wake of their recent unfortunately-minor losses. Poor Tomas. But it would get better. And she just wanted to make sure his information didn't fall behind when he was busy elsewhere.

Maria's run in with the new mystery, possibly Shiva-related, person had him curious. Of course Shiva-related vigilantes in Gotham set off alarm bells so he had to go scope out the cartel for himself and see if he could get any info on the people involved.

So when he glimpses something flitting in the shadows he follows. Whoever it is is moving fast, beyond human fast, which means he needs to use home field advantage.

Getting the general pattern of the flitting, Thomas moves ahead and hides in the shadows that she might use when done with the last of the operatives. Well out of earshot of said operatives and it's got enough shadows for him to work in. So it's there that he stays hidden, waiting for her to come near.

"Hello," comes a voice out of the shadows, not friendly but not hostile really either. He just wants her attention.

Flick of the wrist and the lamentation blades are out and ready, but she's not pouncing towards the voice. "Hi."

Robin tilts his head and keeps a grip on his bo staff but doesn't move out of his cover. "And who are you?" He says to the girl with...Savage blades. Which was...interesting to say the least, but rather worrying. Okay, quite worrying.

"I'm Iota. Not that it's any of your business. Who are you?" She's still ready to fight if it comes to it, but waiting.

Oh yay, greek letters that don't tell him anything. She wasn't tiny though, scrawny yes, but tall for a girl. Though he found it amusing she told him it was none of his business after telling him her supposed name. Could also be a costumed name for all he knew. "I'm sure you can figure it out. What brings you to town?"

"Just trying to keep tags on the drug traffickers. So. If you're one of them and just cutting in on their merchandise, just to letcha know, my cousin is probably going to make you regret being in the business. If you're a Bat, you know, we can maybe try making arrangements and stuff, to prevent more botches on your family's part, but no promises. Whatever you are, you're not a cop."

"If I was one of them and good enough not to be caught or noticed by you, then I'd have a gun in my hand and you'd already be shot," he points out and moves, more to the side so that now he's not in the shadows as much anymore but still perched on a higher point and looking down at her, uniform colours visible now. "Your cousin is it? Skanda? The one that botched up the drug ring takedown we had in place?" Technically Maria's alone, but he wanted to see how she'd react to the accusation of botching being thrown back at her. Besides, it was bad news that Shiva-related mystery man also had a Savage-connected cousin here too.

Ugh, more to deal with.

Iota canted her head and was starting to concede his point that there'd be a gun --though not that she'd necessarily get hit, thank you very much. She knew she wasn't the cleverest -- she probably shouldn't have even gone for recon alone, but the twins were busy with this new Thing, and it was so important to Tomas and -- she heard the last remark and raised her eyebrows. "He didn't botch anything, pintarroxo" she says with certainty. "He's put so much work and gotten into so much trouble to stop these people. I don't want him to get disappointed just because he and your sister-or-whatever have professional differences!" Emphatic Iota is Emphatic.

And she didn't think they hadn't put so much work into protecting Gotham too? Hell, their whole lives centered on that, but he wasn't going to mention the obvious to the girl here or get riled up over it. This was just for info anyway, so it was a good thing she was getting so emphatic. "Then he's in the wrong place, Gotham does disappointment well. Though it's curious that a son of Shiva is combating crime, even if it seems like he gets disappointed easily. But I didn't expect Shiva's would associated with someone clearly Scandal-tied." He's just seeing what sticks now, there was no guarantee or evidence that Skanda really was related to Shiva or that this girl knew any member of the Scandal family, but shots in the dark against someone who was clearly the weaker link was how you found out.

If thinking through the whole equation was Iota's strongest suit, she wouldn't exactly have been having any of this conversation. At all. But she is not the brains of the family.

"What is that supposed to mean? How our family works is none of your business; how does someone who fights in a cape decide what's odd, anyway?"

It means that the connection between the two was not through Shiva. But through the mystery father or whoever raised the guy.

Still, she hadn't denied the Shiva related comment or the Scandal one, if anything her outburst confirmed his ideas. Good. That was useful to know, more credibility to that lead and all.

"It means that I doubt you're cousins on his mother's side is all it means. And I also doubt you'd know the advantages of a cape then, and I don't feel like explaining it. But odd usually has an explanation behind it, and you've already given one. Better family than him using you." He could be do a bit less to keep her emphatic but...he wouldn't get as much info that way. So he doesn't bother trying that. It'd be counterproductive.

And the more he found out, the more of a headache he suspected this was going to eventually be. Why couldn't people just stay out of Gotham already and stop this drive-by crimefighting and messing with things? All those botched takedown attempts because of nonsense like this...

Though he's not sure if this is worse or better than the insane over the top guy who came through months ago.

"...Stabbing you in the foot wouldn't be useful, so I won't. Of course he's not using me; that'd be a silly idea. And you know these people don't just work in Gotham, right? We've had to deal with them all over. Brasil. The Carribean. This is just one of the --" And just Thomas's luck, to confuse the issue, the word she uses trying to remember the word she wants isn't even from this planet, although it sounds... vaguely greek-sounding. "-- lynchpins or something."

Fun. Threats of a sort. How original. Cue inward eye rolling.

Though the foot? Not exactly a target most picked, not to mention a hard one to get and not the smartest given his boots. At least it told him she didn't jump to lethal means right away. Though he wouldn't discount her actually using those means entirely, after all, she was hanging out with a son of Shiva. Cass had been a very different matter, more Cain-tied than anything, it wouldn't be a stretch to say this new guy was similar. Except he had no idea the father figure involved. Someone close to a Scandal was all he could say right now, and not with much certainty.

"Obviously I know that. Of course you do know that we'd be the ones who know the most about the local chapter here don't you?" This girl was so clearly not the mastermind behind everything, she seemed more like she was tagging along more than anything.

Thomas was not in agreement with that at all. Maria's taste in men aside, it wasn't a good idea to work with likely-lethal unknowns. Not to mention this one was a metahuman of sorts, no guarantee the Skanda guy wasn't either. All of this was just a giant headache.

"He can't be killing anyone in the city, and most certainly not if he wants to work with her at all. But I didn't hear him giving out any numbers either." Which was a shame because tracking that would've been useful.

Ugh, first Great White off house arrest, a drug ring still up, and now...these two newcomers. Please let them not stay long.

"He hasn't killed anybody in your city! He's perfectly capable of --" And then Iota's brain finally connects to the last time she discussed Tomas's being perfectly capable of doing the job without killing because he was awesome like that. And he'd mentioned not wanting the Bats' attention on the family. And she'd been... talking to Robin for the past five minutes...

Thomas notes but doesn't correct the 'your city' bit. In his life he'd only said 'my city' in relation to Gotham once. Just once. And that had slipped out without him realizing the significance until much later. He didn't make a habit of using possessives with Gotham, it was too much like Dad and it was far too...Batman on top of it all. He wasn't Batman, not yet and maybe not ever given the whole new world and all.

Not so dazzling in this case.

"Yet." Robin tilts his head at the sudden stop, trying to read her expression. It looked like she'd finally just realized something. Heh. Not talking to the bat to much tended to be something most were good at. And here he didn't even need to shake her out to get her to be talkative. Well, it looked like she wouldn't be willing to talk much more now that she'd realized her mistake. Ah well, it was useful while it lasted.

Iota didn't invest nearly so much meaning in it. She just meant he lived here.

"...But you're randomly deciding it's inevitable, so that makes bothering him more important than the people who /already are killing people?/"

Thomas raised an eyebrow at that. "No. You're assuming this is both random and more important than the scum who kill people. Which is incorrect on both accounts." He tilts his head at her curiously. "So tell me, when I look into your cousin's work with this particular cartel, in Brazil and the Caribbean especially, do you really think I'll find all the people who were foiled nicely in jail with not a rumour of any death? None?" Yes, it was 'when' and not 'if' for a reason. This was not something one maybe looked into, you had to. Unknown likely killing element on the streets? Yeah, you had to.

"I didn't say that!" Of course Tomas probably killed people on some of those occasions when she wasn't taken along. But he avoided it with her because death -- as opposed to screaming, bleeding bad guys, which were fine -- spoiled everything and Tomas was sweet like that.

Even Iota's not stupid enough to realize that she's brought trouble on the family though.
"We don't have to be your problem. and it's none of your business anyway." And then she's gone.

Thomas watches her go, no point in following or starting a chase at the moment. Not enough info and she had the speed advantage.

He rolls his eyes at her parting words once she's gone and mutters to himself. "They all think that huh?"
