Thomas always felt really awkward at family dinners, even at holidays, so this was even more awkward. Dinners with just Maria and AltDad weren't bad, they'd made him feel welcome and sometimes forget this wasn't his home technically, but seeing the rest of them, some he didn't know, made the not-his-world thing all the more salient.
Well...he survived a lot of worse things than awkward family dinners, he could do this too.
Thomas was ahead of Maria, having come from a different part of the Manor, and walking into the dining room with Mr. Paws at his heels.
