Tomas shows up somewhat late, but it doesn't look like the dealing has started. He nods to his sister, and then takes a seat in her peripheral vision. If they can see each other too easily, there's too much temptation to either cheat or accidentally pick up on each other's hands.
The former would be less of an issue if Iota didn't know about the possibility, of course.
