"Hey Josh!" calls Ava back. He and Josh had a discussion in the morning, and the two had agreed then to try to not be too affectionate in public. In all actuality, Avalon was the one to bring it up, spurred by his empathy and Josh's mounting anxiety.
But, just because they were "best friends" doesn't stop him from grinning like an idiot. He waits for Josh to get up to him, and he slings an arm around the taller boy's shoulders in a loose hug. Of course, Avalon has a much more subtle way of greeting Josh that others would never know of, and he is sure to let himself feel the full rush through his body that contract brings.
Pulling back some, he leans back against the tree and offers Josh a wide smile as he says "So, how'd it go?"
