Alerron saw Katima walking alone across the field, his first clue that something was wrong. She usually met with Henry or one of the others as soon as school ended, but none of them appeared to be in sight.
When the first female attacked Katima, Alerron didn't wait around to find out where this was going. He descended from the upper-atmosphere at top speed, slowing only to land behind the girl who attacked Katima.
"Do not touch her again." he said, his voice low and dangerous. Two other girls had arrived to join the fray, along with a few young men.
"The next person to harm her will find themselves in dire straits." he said, looking at each of them in turn.
To his surprise, they all laughed at him.
