Rex, contrary to popular belief, was actually sober. A missing sister will do that to a guy. When the phone rings, Rex picks it up, hoping to the gods it isn't Mom or Carter checking up on Nic.
When Nic's voice answers back, Rex...has a moment.
"Where the HELL are you, Nicolette? I've been looking for you all night and you haven't answered your phone. What is wrong with you?" Rex yells.
Then he hears the part about Doctor Fate.
"Oh shit. Okay, get him some water, and make sure he doesn't try to go anywhere. I'm on my way. The conversation about you not coming home is tabled until later, kid." Rex says, and hangs up.
