Hope and Rex
Rex is resting, albeit uncomfortably, when Hope finds him. He feels like he tried to swallow his mace, axe and sword all at once, his throat hurts so badly. The doctors told him not to try to speak...and they told him that him speaking ever again is a 50/50 prospect.
He can't imagine life without being able to speak. What would he tell Mom, Carter and Nicolettte? Oh, that's right: nothing. Can't speak, can't tell them anything.
Could he still lead the JSA if he was speech-impaired? Would they even look at him the same? Saving Hope was worth fighting and dying for, but what if he could never tell her that he loved her ever again?
She would find him contemplating these things upon her arrival.
