Rex is glad that Max didn't try to get buddy-buddy with him. He wasn't in the mood to shut the man down, so the lack of preamble works for him.
"Your daughter is exerting some undue influence on my kid sister, Max. I'd like to stop a bad situation from getting worse, so I'll make it simple." Rex says.
"Call Cindy off from seeing Nic, and make sure she doesn't come around again. I'm not waiting around to watch your daughter screw up my sister's life as her project for the year." Rex says.
