Aww! If you get him a small red-eared slider, he can keep it in a small tank. They grow to fit their surroundings, so if it stays in a little tank, it will stay little. Make sure it gets lots of sunlight and UV rays and stuff though. The heat and sunlight help it digest its food and it can get the soft shell disease if it doesn't which is sad. :(
