It's heartrending to see this. He knows what Steve must be feeling now. The confusion. The cold so deep that even after 12 years and thousands of hot showers, he still can remember what it feels like. Remembering the last thing you saw: your brother and best friend caught in an explosion.
He places a hand out to grasp his old friend... who he has never met before this day.
"It's okay, Steve," he says soothingly. "Take it easy."
