Thoreau wormed his way through the crowded school hallway, making a b-line for Pansy, standing surrounded by a circle of her closest followers. Who were about to get a text alert. Thoreau didn't know when Gossip Girl had started giving out warnings, but obviously Pansy hadn't got one or she wouldn't be standing in the middle of a very public hallways, ruling the coop like nothing was wrong.

He touched her arm. "Pansy, I need to talk to you," Thoreau said, glancing at the girls and then stepping closer to her, lowering his voice. "We need to go. Now. We need time to think up a strategy."

Pansy frowned at Draco and stood up, walking over to him. "A favour? You think what I did for you could be considered a favour?" She shook her head and pushed him against her door, frowning up at him.

"I do not spend all my time making fun of you. I haven't said a word about you until today, when I was explaining that everything that you had done was stuff you knew could ruin you. And you did it publicly. If I was out sleeping with every boy who looked at me and who kissed me, I'd be in trouble too. And I am right now. Because I made a stupid mistake. You can talk about me all you want. But I have never went out of my way to hurt you."

"I've never gone out of my way to hurt you either," Draco snapped, frowning down at Pansy. "Not even a little thing, like sending am embarrassing photo of your to Gossip Girl. So don't tell me nobody cares about you or appreciates you or that everyone hurts you, because it's not true."

He gestured towards Thoreau. "You dumped him for his best friend and he still spends most of his time with you, even if you think I'm horrible."

"He also cheated on me by snogging you. And never told me he was gay." Pyxis pointed out, frowning at Draco. "No one is innocent in this. But, I'm tired of you thinking your life is so horrible."

She shook her head. "Your life is fantastic. And you have someone who loves you. I don't even have that."

"The only thing I have in my life that you don't have is Charlie, Pansy," Draco snapped, frowning at her. "My mother adores you. If you want to get away from your parents, do you think she'd blink before inviting you to live with us? She wouldn't. Neither would Thoreau's parents."

He shook his head. "If you want my life, you can take it. I'd take yours over it any day. It's so much easier."

Pansy felt like she was going to explode. No one knew how her family really was. She'd never shared it with anyone before. No one except Thoreau. She glanced at him and gave him a hurt look, then looked back at Draco.

"You don't know anything about my life, Draco." Pansy told him. "You don't know all the abuse I go through. You think you know, but I've never told you because I didn't trust you enough to not send it to Gossip Girl. My father beats me."

Draco stared at Pansy for a moment, feeling his anger being ripped away from you. "You -- what?" He glanced at Thoreau, who looked grim, and then stepped closer to Pansy, grabbing her and pulling her into a tight hug. "I would never send something like that to Gossip Girl, Pansy. I've never sent anything about you to Gossip Girl. You can ask. I love you."

He looked down at her. "I'm sorry," he said quietly. "I didn't know. I know your parents are never in London, but you can come stay with me, Pansy. We have lots of room."

Pansy closed her eyes and sighed softly. "No. I can stay here. It's not... You're right. They're not around a lot anymore. When I was little he'd lock me up in a room and not feed me."

She shrugged. "I guess that's why I have a dream of getting out of here and... finding something better to do with my life."

"Which you'll do," Thoreau said, feeling like he could finally step in and speak again. "You're brilliant, Pansy. You're in the top three students of every class you're in and you've got the ambition to be whatever you want." He touched her arm. "You're also young and beautiful and you're going to have lots of options for men in your future."

Draco touched Pansy's hair, kissing her forehead. "I'm glad you slept over as often as you did when we were little," he said quietly. "I don't like the thought of you being hurt like that."
