Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry

Thoreau figured what everyone needed, after Blaise coming back and everyone freaking out over it, was a distraction. So he was having a party because he and Theo were friends again and could get all the booze and drugs they needed to throw a really good one. Blaise would probably crash it eventually, but nobody had invited him and Thoreau was pretty sure him appearing in public with his boyfriend and basically coming out to everyone who wasn't one of his close friends was going to be enough of a distraction to keep Blaise from stealing the spot light.

He sat on the couch beside Pansy and Theo, reaching out and touching Pansy's hair automatically, because she'd been his girlfriend for a long time and they were best friends and he was gay now, so it was okay for him to still touch her. "I'm glad you're going to get to meet Radley tonight. Neville and Daphne should be here soon. Is Draco coming?"

"Draco should stay home," Theo said, shaking his head. "All anyone will talk to him about tonight is Blaise, and you know Blaise is going to crash the party."

"I don't think it's fair that Draco has to be punished because of Blaise." Pansy shook her head, leaning into Thoreau. It was still habit that when he touched her, she had to lean into it. She couldn't help it. "Besides, I invited Charlie too."

Radley didn't know about this. About going to a party that Thoreau was hosting. What if this changed things for them? He held onto Joey's hand, glancing down at her before he knocked on the door.

"Really?" Theodore raised an eyebrow at that. "Tonight going to be an eventful night on Gossip Girl. She's not going to know which story to run first." He was trying to remind himself that Thoreau was gay and it was all right for him and Pansy to cuddle, but it was difficult. He touched Pansy's knee.

Thoreau looked up when there was a knock on the door. "That's probably Radley." He kissed Pansy's forehead as he stood up. "Let's not worry about Gossip Girl tonight. Let's just have fun." He walked to the door and pulled it open, smiling at Radley and then... kind of staring at the kid with him. "Hi," he said, cautiously. "You... Who's this?"

Pansy looked at the hand on her knee and arched a brow. "I'm sure Gossip Girl will be fine." She glanced at Thoreau as he crossed the room. "Are you jealous of him touching me?" She asked.

"I'm Joey. Do you have candy?" Joey asked as she pushed past Thoreau and looked around the house.

Radley sighed softly and looked at Thoreau. "She's Rooney's kid and he stuck me with her. He promised he's come pick her up soon. I just have to watch her for a little longer."

"Maybe a little," Theo admitted, smiling at Pansy and rubbing her knee. "I know he's not interested in you that way anymore and you're happy with me, but you did date for a very long time. I'm only human." He picked up her hand, kissing the back of it, and then raised an eyebrow at the little girl who pushed into the house. "Is Reau dating someone with a kid?"

Thoreau turned to look at the kid walking into his house and then looked up at Radley. "I'll make sure nobody does drugs before she leaves," he said, then leaned up and kissed Radley. At least it wasn't his kid, thank God. "Come in. You can meet Pansy and Theo, my best friends. Pans, Theo, this is Radley and his niece, Joey."

He wasn't quite sure what you did with kids, but he'd try. "I don't have any candy, but I have some biscuits and milk?" he offered.

Pansy glanced at the kid for a moment and frowned. "Not that I'm aware of. Maybe he's just watching someone's kid." She told him, shaking her head. "Stop being a jealous git, Theodore." She smiled at the little girl for a moment, then stood and walked over to Radley, shaking his hand. "Hello, Radley. I'm Pansy."

Joey looked up at Thoreau and shrugged. "If that's all you've got. Do you know when my Daddy will be here?"

Theodore got up, because he had been introduced and Thoreau was apparently feeding the kid. He offered Radley his hand as well, wrapping his arm around Pansy's shoulders. "I'm Theodore," he said. Who knew Thoreau had a thing for huge men? "It's nice to meet you. We haven't heard much about you yet."

"It's all I have, but they're pretty good. They're homemade," Thoreau said, leading Joey into the kitchen. He grabbed the biscuit tin, pulling out a few of them and putting them on a plate, then setting it down on the island as he went to get her some milk. "Radley said Rooney was supposed to come pick you up soon," he said. "I'm sure it won't take him long, but you can hang out with me and your friends until then."

Radley glanced at the two of them and laughed uncomfortably. "Well. Hello." He told them. "I'm not sure what Thoreau has told you about me. You two should enlighten me and tell me where to find a drink."

Joey looked up at Thoreau as he grabbed a biscuit. "I'm going to need more than this." She informed him. "Radley forgot to feed me today. Are you my daddy's boyfriend?"

"I think he said you were a massage therapist," Theodore said, walking to the cooler to get out a beer for him. Theodore handed it over. "He's probably told Pansy more. They're close." He looked at Pansy. "What things do you know that I don't?"

"I... no, I'm Radley's boyfriend," Thoreau told Joey. "He really forgot to feed you? I'll make you a sandwich and some crisps, okay?" He went to the fridge, pulling out some leftover pot roast and some lettuce, tomato, and cucumber to put with it. "I know your daddy, though. Rooney and I are friends." Kind of. Thoreau wasn't going to sleep with him anymore so friends was the best label he could think of. He grabbed the crisps from the cupboard and set them in front of Joey as he started making her a sandwich. "Does he have a boyfriend?"

Pansy thought about what she knew about Radley. She knew he had a big cock. "Just that he's sweet and that he's a massage therapist. And he's got a twin brother." She shrugged. "Nothing too much."

"I do have a twin brother. Who stuck me with his kid until he gets here to take her home." Radley nodded, looking the two of them over. "I don't know much about the two of you either. Just that the two of you dated."

"Daddy has a lot of boyfriends." Joey replied as she ate another bite of her food, examining Thoreau. "Radley never has boyfriends. He usually takes over whatever my Daddy doesn't want. I don't know." She shrugged. "Radley didn't mean to not feed me. He's just not good with kids."

Theodore glanced at Pansy. "They're still close," he said. Which was unfortunate for him and his jealousy. "I think we heard about your twin. He substituted for Draco's boyfriend for a while. He's a professor?"

Thoreau finished putting the sandwich together and sat it in front of Joey, then took a seat beside her while she ate. "Radley has a boyfriend now," he said. "I was never one of your father's boyfriends." Except she probably meant shags and Thoreau had kind of been one of those, but he'd met Radley first. And he'd made the decision to ask Radley out. "I hope you like the food. I'm not sure I'm great with kids either. I haven't spent much time with them."

"He's not a real professor or anything." Radley shrugged. "He's just a supply teacher. I don't think anyone would seriously hire him for anything. He's not very dependable."

"Mummy never lets me around Daddy unless she needs something." Joey pointed out. "So you won't see me too often. I think she's trying to get money off him so she can buy her special candy that she won't let me eat."

"I don't take history so I wouldn't know," Theodore told Radley, and then looked up when Draco opened the door and walked in. "You didn't bring booze?" he asked. "How was the supple teacher you had when Weasley was sick?"

"I'm not going to let someone photograph me carrying alcohol through the streets of London," Draco said. "I spent most of class texting when we had a supply teacher so I have no idea. Thoreau was the one who kept eye-fucking him."

"Special candy?" Thoreau repeated, frowning a little. Was it rude to jump to the conclusion that special candy meant drugs? "Well, when I do see you I'll make sure somebody's fed you, okay? How's the sandwich?"

Radley looked at Draco and gave him a sad look. Thoreau was eye-fucking his brother? It made sense, he supposed. No one ever liked him over his own brother. "Well. I'm Radley. Thoreau's boyfriend."

Joey looked down at the sandwich for a moment, then took a bite of it. "Is'good." She told him with a shrug. "What kind is it?"

Draco paused, glancing at Pansy and Theodore. "Oh," he said, and then cleared his throat, holding his hand out to Radley. "I'm Draco. Thoreau's friend. That was a couple weeks ago. I'm sure he was over it as soon as he got a detention from him."

"Pot roast, tomato, lettuce, cucumber, mayo, mustard, and a little bit of horseradish," Thoreau said, smiling at Joey. "Just what we had in the fridge. I wasn't expecting to have to give someone real food today." He glanced in the direction of the living room briefly. "So... How old are you?" he asked her. "Radley and I haven't been together for long, so I haven't gotten to hear much about you yet."

"Right." Radley had heard all about the detention, but he wouldn't mention it. "Aren't you the teacher fucker?" He asked, looking him over. "I read about you. And Thoreau mentioned you."

Draco opened his mouth to respond to that, then frowned and closed it. "I'm going to go make myself something to drink," he said, looking at Pansy and Theo. "You want anything?"

Theodore liked Radley. He shook his head. "We're all right," he said, watching Draco sulk off to the bar. He looked up at Radley. "I like you. Thoreau's done well for himself."

Thoreau knew that Rooney had a lot of sex. He'd seen how dirty his instagram got. But still. This was his kid, and apparently her mother was on drugs. "You seem pretty on top of things for six. I don't have much context, though. I don't know many kids and I was an only child. My dad is kind of like yours. He'd not really interested in women."

Pansy walked over to Draco and touched his hand. "Don't get upset. He was just upset that you said that about Thoreau."

"I'm not interested in people." Joey pointed out as she looked back at Thoreau, then took another bite of her sandwich. "Don't make Radley cry. He's sensitive. He cries a lot."

"People don't get snippy enough with him, and if I do it then my girlfriend gets mad at me because he's her best friend," Theodore said, smirking. "She invited his boyfriend to the party tonight. I'm not sure it'll go well."

Draco sighed, pouring himself a glass of whiskey. "I'm sure he was," he said. "I didn't know he was Thoreau's boyfriend. At least I can try and forget about everything tonight. At least until Blaise shows up."

"Well, you're six," Thoreau pointed out. "You're not really expected to be interested in people yet." He frowned a little when Joey told him Radley cried a lot. "Do you know why?" he asked. "I really like him, Joey. I don't want to make him cry. I want to make him happy."

"I'm not sure me being here and Thoreau coming out is going to go over well either." Radley admitted with a shrug. "But, that's not a big issue. Gossip Girl will find something to post even if we don't give her something."

"I told the man watching the door to not let him in if he shows." Pansy admitted with a defeated sigh. "But, that doesn't mean he won't find some way in. He'll just pay the doorman off, I'm sure."

Joey shrugged. "Because my Daddy takes all the boys he likes. That's what he told me." She admitted. "He says Daddy doesn't let him keep his friends."

"I think Thoreau is trying to do his friends a favour," Theo told Radley. "Pansy and Draco have both gotten into trouble and been gossip fodder lately. Thoreau wants to distract them. Otherwise I'm sure he'd be more subtle about introducing you to us. He must feel confident in you if he's willing to put you through Gossip Girl."

"Probably," Draco agreed, making a face and sipping from his glass. "It could be worse. At least Charlie's not coming too. I can't imagine the kinds of things Blaise would say to him."

Thoreau didn't want to tell a six year old her daddy didn't sound very nice, so he settled for nodding. He liked Rooney, but if he really did make Radley cry a lot, Thoreau was going to have to reevaluate his opinion. "That would make me cry too," he said. "I like Radley a lot. I want to make him happy. I don't think your daddy will try and take me. Radley is safe with me."

Pansy gave Draco a guilty look. "Well. I mean... I sent him an invite...I'msosorryDracodon'thateme."

Draco stared at Pansy for a moment, then knocked back his drink and poured himself another one. "Fuck," he said. "I was trying to keep the person who knows every horrible thing I've done intimately and my boyfriend apart, but I guess this is happening now. Maybe Charlie will punch him for me."

Thoreau laughed at Joey, reaching up to cross his heart. "I promise I will," he said. "Scout's honour. Should we go find Radley?"

Charlie opened the door and stepped into Thoreau's house, glancing around. He saw Theodore, the one Pansy talked about all the time, then Pansy and Draco over at the bar. He smiled and stepped over to them, wrapping his arms around him. "Hey."

Pansy gave Charlie a weak smile. "Hello, Charles. Look, Draco. You're wonderful, loving boyfriend is here. Isn't that great?"

Theodore walked over to the bar, watching Draco pour himself another drink. "Thoreau's boyfriend when to get Thoreau and the kid out of the kitchen," he said, wrapping an arm around Pansy's waist.

Thoreau looked back at Radley and smiled. "Yeah, she said she was hungry so I made her a sandwich to go with the biscuits." He walked over to Radley and leaned up, kissing him for a long moment. "Don't worry about it. You know I like making food for people. Next time I need to have candy, though."

"You know, you're not his girlfriend anymore. You don't have to be the hostess at his parties," Theodore pointed out, raising an eyebrow at Pansy. "We can just have fun."

"I like her," Thoreau said, smiling at Radley a little. He could hear more people coming into the house. "We should probably stay with her until he gets here. Draco had been expecting something like this to happen. People didn't stick around. He'd just enjoy Charlie while he had him. "I know you don't like it," he said. "I don't think you understand what it's like having her looming over you all the time. That's fine. She isn't your problem." He finished his drink. "Do you want to dance or something?"

I just wish that you didn't care so much about what she says about you. It should only matter what your friends, mother and I think of you."

Pansy sighed softly, then glanced up when she saw Blaise entering the party. It was early for him to be showing up. She frowned and walked up to him. "You weren't invited. I suggest you leave."

"I won't get to see her again until her Mum needs money for crank again anyway." Rooney shrugged, looking down at Joey as she wrapped her arms around his leg. He patted her head. "Hey Batman."

Blaise raised an eyebrow at Pansy. "I was under the impression that you and Thoreau had broken up," he told her. "Aren't you with Theodore now?" Blaise reached up, playing with the ends of Pansy's hair. "I'm not going to ruin your little party. I'm just here to have fun, like everyone else."

"I'm not with Thoreau, but he is my best friend and I know who is supposed to be here and who isn't." Pansy informed Blaise, slapping his hand away from her hair. "How much did you have to bribe the doorman to let you in? Or did you blow him?"

"Yeah. You don't have one." Rooney told him with a shrug, holding Joey against his chest once he stopped letting her fly. "It's like a switch flicks on and you know how to take-"

Blaise laughed at that. "Just because I used to fuck Draco doesn't mean I'm gay," he said. "Everyone's fucked Draco. I won't stay long. You know, I always liked Daphne. I don't know why she's wasting her time with Longbottom, but I thought I'd take her off his hands."

Thoreau laughed at that. "I have apple, orange, and cranberry juice," he told Joey. "If you want your dad to get you one of those, they're just in the fridge, except the cranberry. That's at the bar." Right. The party. He looked up at Radley. "Were Pansy and Theo handling the party okay?"

"That's not..." Draco couldn't get anything right with Charlie. He felt like such an idiot all the time. He looked over his shoulder, at Blaise talking to Pansy. "I'm not ashamed of you. I'm just scared. I'm always scared. Come on." He grabbed Charlie's hand and pulled him over to where Pansy and Blaise were standing. "Let's just get whatever you came to do over with, Blaise."

Blaise looked up at Draco and his boyfriend, raising an eyebrow. "Why does everyone assume my world revolves around you?" he asked. "Your father, Pansy, you. But if you want to talk, fine. Hello, Draco. Draco's disgraced professor boyfriend. You know, I didn't think Draco liked gingers, so I was confused when I saw the papers, but then I looked up your work and realized why he was fucking you. Draco always was a bit of a size queen."

Part of Thoreau wanted to say that leaving Rooney would be rude, but then he remembered everything Joey had said about Radley and Rooney's relationship with each other and Radley crying and he nodded, leaning in and kissing Radley for a long moment. Charlie was already upset about the Draco thing. About not feeling wanted. Blaise was just an added irritant than needed to be irradicated. He looked him over for a moment, then punched him hard in his smug little face. "Come on, Draco. Let's get out of here."

Pansy looked down at Blaise and laughed, then at Charlie. "Thank you." She told him as she called security, then walked over to where Theodore was. "I'm calling security to have him removed."

Pansy laughed at Theodore and rolled her eyes. "Double dates?" She asked. "I'll see what Draco has to say about that, but I'm not sure he'll be down for it." She looked at Thoreau and nodded. "Yes. Of course I did. They're on their way to come get him."

Draco hadn't even really thought about it before the words were leaving his mouth, but now... Well, it was too late to take them back, and actually he didn't really want to. "Let's get out of here," Draco said, arms winding around Charlie's neck. "I don't want security to decide they should question you for breaking his nose or something. We'll go out with Thoreau and his boyfriend to make it up to them someday."

"Good," Thoreau said, grinning and leaning in to kiss Pansy briefly. "Best party I've ever thrown, right? I could watch Blaise get hit in the face for years and never get tired of it."
