Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Jack ran inside of the small café in Denver. After the summer thunderstorm a rainbow had appeared in the sky. It was actually a very full rainbow and while most people were staring at it with wonder, it brought other memories to mind for him. Mainly the one time IxChel had found him. He had just barely survived that by the skin of his teeth and he also felt that might have been the cause of the Flu of 1918 though he had never been able to confirm it. He was just rather glad that the Elixir of immortality had made him immune to disease.

He was pretty sure it wasn’t her. The native gods of this area still had some power here and would not be too happy with a rampaging Mayan goddess. Part of the reason he wasn’t going back to Mexico any time soon.

Since he had gone into the café like this it only seemed polite to order some coffee and take a seat while he waited for the rainbow to go away.

"I can bring them by if you like," Jack says taking a sip of his coffee.

Akantha smiled. "That'd be nice. If you want to bring them over one evening, I'll grab some takeout and we can eat while pouring through books."

"Sure that sounds like a plan," Jack says. He loved how easy it was to avoid cooking in this time if he didn't have too.

"Do you have any preferences?" she asked. "I don't want to get something you don't like."

"How about Thai food," Jack asks, "But I'm not all that picky."

"Thai food it is. There's this great little place I know of that has food that will make you think you're in Thailand."

"Awesome. Probably should see if they have any good Thai beer there too."

"It's hard to get good Thai beer here in the States," she said. "The last time I was there there was this little old couple who made very small batches and the stuff was amazing."

"There's a couple that's aren't to bad," Jack says, "But you are right beer always tastes better where it's made." He could only find the really good German beers over in Germany. The small places that still held the old traditions.

"Agreed," she said. "The same applies to wine. There's some islands in Greece where the local wine is amazing and you can't get it anywhere else."

"Very cool," Jack says, "Don't think I've ever had really good Greek wine." He was a lot more familiar with French and Italian wines.

"I'll have to bring some back with me the next time I go to Greece," she said. Though she had a very long history, not always good, with Greece she always went back at some point. Maybe it was the draw of home that always took her back. Greece would always be home.

"Thanks," Jack says, "That's very nice of you." He definitely understood the draw of home. There were sometimes he just couldn't help but go back there to Germany.
