WHO: Karin, Uzumaki Naruto
WHAT: Karin goes to the karaoke bar to take up Naruto's offer on them meeting.
WHERE: Meromero - the karaoke bar.
WHEN: Late Thursday, Sept. 10
WARNINGS: I don't even. Who knows, with them?

She'd pulled on her good heels for the occasion - not the new ones, which needed their own event, but the ones were long since broken in, and somehow matched almost every one of her outfits. In the large bag at her side were her work clothes, rolled up with a rubberband around them so they wouldn't take up too much space. Like hell was she going to go out looking overly professional (unless she was aiming for sexy librarian, which was always nice in its own).

It was the first time she'd had a chance to really go anywhere since she'd come to the city, because all those times she got lost heading home from work didn't fucking count.

The thought of how she'd recognise Naruto didn't quite occur to her, because they'd not so much as exchanged numbers (though Karin could find had his easily if she just looked a little, she was sure), but she'd always had a knack for picking someone out of a crowd. Though, she had to admit, she usually went looking for the hottest guy in the room if she had to pick any one person out of a group.

Crumpling the instructions she'd written down earlier on how to get from the Apple store to Meromero and shoving them in her purse, Karin made her grand entrance (which wasn't very grand at all, but she was there, at least).

There were always the usual customers on nights like this. No one bothered with bars during the week. One would think the high class crowd that crept in at all hours of the night with a questionable woman, and for some man, on their arm were off playing the expensive version of house with their oblivious wives. They would be there this weekend, though. Ordering the waiters around like people with money could and rubbing their noses into the ceiling they're pointed up so high.

However, these were the nights Naruto hated most. Instead of taking pleasure in the quiet and calm atmosphere he cursed his luck instead. No business meant no tips. That poor frog wallet of his would be filled with dust until the weekend. Maybe there would be less to be bothered about if he could sulk in the comfort of his apartment and not here, the annoying bar pagoda with it's flashing lights and awful 80's tracks playing in the background.

As his boss had put it, Naruto was worth even less if he weren't working. Fatass bastard- If it weren't for the good hours...

Yet he had still been entertaining the thought of ditching work tonight altogether until someone at the door disrupted his train of thought. Not so much a rarity was the occasional drunk from the street that would walk in. Naruto was already reaching for the bottle of gin underneath the counter in order to pour out the pitiful guys drink for the night, "Hold up for a second and don't sit anywhere! I ain't spending the rest of the night scrubbing down the... booth..." And then he finally looked up.

When was the last time a woman came through those doors that looked that decent and wasn't one of his friends? This must be what that silly fate stuff was. Not that he believed in it, but there had to be something good from being here and it might as well be this.

Suddenly the night didn't seem so boring, his hand sliding away from the alcohol altogether. In the back were his fellow coworkers who could care less about one lone customer. Suddenly tips didn't matter as much as hopping out from behind the counter and greeting the stranger was. He wasted no time approaching her, grabbing a menu and tucking it under his arm like a true steward. So what if he wasn't a waiter? He was a good actor. He could handle this all on his own.

"Hello, godsend. Welcome to Meromero. How may I pleasure your tongue this evening?"

Karin gave him a once-over, nearly laughing at his change in attitude once he'd gotten a look at her. She was shameless in knowing what her looks could do to a man, and had even less shame about indulging herself in their advances (even if he wasn't really her type). Godsend, huh? How cute.

"Dunno," she said, after a moment of chewing her lip thoughtfully, her accent betraying her from the first go - she obviously wasn't from the area. But it was Tokyo, so she figured they'd probably seen enough foreigners that it would be nothing big to him.

It was true: Karin wasn't sure what she wanted out of coming here, other than seeing this Naruto guy. She didn't even like karaoke, and for all she knew, that could be him. But if it wasn't, why spoil the kids fun by asking for him?

"Got any suggestions? I bet you know the ropes pretty well, hmm?"

There was a lot Naruto would put on the line when it came to sacrificing his time at work. Nothing good ever came from this place unless the crowd were a bunch of people he himself had invited. Any other time it was filled with suits that could really give a damn about him. Such is the life of the underpaid and desperate. So when he called her a Godsend he damn well meant it. Hopefully this stranger from the street would be just the right thing to liven this boring bar.

The tell-all that assured him it wouldn't be that bad was the accent, a smile breaking out before he could stop it. Foreigners were always fun to escort around and fill them in about the what's what of the place. "Plenty. I'm pretty knowledgeable. And I know all about ropes."

He turned around and made his way back to the bar, beckoning her with a finger. "Bum crowd during the week. Sorry that you came on an empty night." There was almost a sympathetic tone in his voice, clearly unaware that this had been the girl he'd invited to it not even a couple nights ago. "You get a nice, comfy seat up here with me. First drink on the house since you're keeping me company. How's that sound, Miss...?"

No insta-rejection over foreigners put another good mark for him in her book, even though she'd not fully expected it to happen. Karin had anticipated it however, because she was a cynic and couldn't help but think the worst; she'd been avoided a few times on the floor at work due to her accent, and it certainly was a frustrating feeling.

She followed after, the click-click of her heels drawing a smile (it was such a nice sound, she thought. Decidedly effeminate) as much as that crooked finger.

"Lovely," she said, ever more pleased with him after that offer. Taking a seat at the bar, Karin put her small purse in her lap only after crossing her legs. She grinned a little, clearly playful when she spoke, "And don't you think it's rude to ask for names without first giving your own? But you can call me Karin. Just Karin. No need for that whole 'miss' business."

Hey, if he could count the number of people he'd made cringe with his bad rendition of the English language he and Karin would probably be around the same range. Or maybe higher. There had also been the people who cried...

"Y'could go and complain to my boss. Good luck tryin' to find him," he spoke with a roll of his eyes before ducking down behind the bar to see what was stocked full enough so that no one would notice if a little alcohol magically disappeared. While down there he listened to the woman rattle on, laughing under his breath at the teasing tone and letting her trail on until she said something that stuck. Karin. Karin. Kar-

That's right! "Karin!" And admittedly he probably should have remembered there was a counter there before jumping up. First impression never were his cup of tea. Neither were concussions, but what can you do. "ShitshitSHIT- Ow. Ow- Hey. Hey, you're Karin. Naruto. I'm Naruto!"

He stood upright and rested a cool bottle of Kahlua against his aching head, wincing and leaning forward. "We just met and all, but do you mind telling me if I'm bleeding? 'Cus if I die and you steal anything I am so screwed."

Karin jumped a little in surprise when she heard his head meet the underside of the counter, deciding that he was as much a spaz as he was cute in that moment. And he was -- Naruto? He was Naruto? Really?

"Uh, fuck," she said elegantly, in English, because she had no better way to put it. Karin leaned in, squinting and adjusting her glasses to make sure she could see alright in the light of the bar.

"Looks okay, I think. You'll probably get a bump, but I don't see any blood, Naruto." She said the name as if to test it out and confirm that it was him, even though she figured he might think reassuring her of his name wasn't half as important as the potential concussion. Karin leaned back, not wanting to hover over him in case he jerked his head up suddenly again. "And if you're dead I think my stealing stuff wouldn't really be much of a worry to you."

Fuck was a word in English, amongst a few others, that he knew well. He had to laugh in spite of the pain, because after cracking your skull open what else is there to do? Save for the fact that his ears were slightly ringing Naruto was able to make it back up into a standing position, the bottle being set down onto the counter before he could drop it and a hand coming up to take it's place. He acknowledged her with a glance and laughed again, bringing his hand back down without any need to check for blood. Karin could be trusted. "You don't know my boss..."

Naruto was a character that could brush off his embarrasment easily, casting it aside and continuing on with business without skipping a beat. That was his job here anyway. And again, what was brain damage? Nobody will be able to tell the difference.

"Some prize I am, huh? Smooth ain't my middle name," he said with humor in his voice, twisting around to grab two frosted glasses from the cooler beside him. He'd need the alcohol once his brain stopped throbbing. "You come out all this way for me and look at what you got."

She laughted, lightly, and shook her head. Karin wasn't going to bother pointing out his being dead would sort of hinder his boss from doing much to pick on him, or throw a fit or whatever his boss did. It didn't really matter; he'd little more than a bump.

"You're entertaining, at least," she said, more pleased than she'd been in a long time, so it was a far cry from the dry sarcasm she usually addressed anyone else with.

"And - " Karin bit her lip, considering whether she should worry about boundaries in flirting (and whether or not she wanted to flirt, considering he wasn't exactly her type), and when she decided that she didn't give a damn, she leaned forward, elbows on the counter again. " - if you do wind up being concussed, I'm sure I could keep you company. You know, cause you're not supposed to sleep on a concussion."
