When he reached back to help her off the bush she couldn't help but blush slightly. When she'd first set eyes on him she never would have guessed him to have any manners. Yet here he was, bordering on chivalrous even. Taking the offered hand she hopped down giving a sigh of relief to have her feet firmly on the ground again.
"Hate tea? How could I hate tea?" It seemed such a silly comment, one that left her a little confused. She could pick up the resentment in his eyes despite the smile, and it made her feel bad. Hinata had assumed the boys were friends. Was it the money that did this? Or was there something else.
"To be fair there are reasons my cousin is the way he is." Just as there were reasons she was the shy, skittish thing that she was. Reasons that were definitely better left unsaid. Even among family. "I don't mean to make excuses for him but, he's not all bad. He did take me in on such short notice."
Horribly short notice. Barely a weeks worth. And he'd been nothing if not gracious to her since. Surely that counted for something.
