"Hey, stop right there. You bought dinner, so I'll handle dishes." James says, picking up his plate to help her clear the table.
"I just don't want to make things tough for you and Steve, is all, Natalia. You guys have had time to build up your reputations and people trust you. Backin' me could make people see you differently, and I don't want you guys havin' to choose between me and people who've come to trust you.
If it comes to that, I'll...figure out something else to do with my life." James says. Granted, he has /no/ idea what that would be, because he's never known anything else.
As sad as it was to say, he's always been good at killing people and fighting wars. The market for both of those skills was high in some places and low in others.
