On the extremely miniscule bright side, the last thing Corey was really afraid of was the dark. He just tried to keep it together, get some of the rocks to his his fingers, reshape them to sharp edges, and get to gradual work on what's tying him.
Yes, he knows it's also what's holding him to the thing, which is why he's focused on getting the arms free first. And as he works on it, he reaches out wit hhis powers again, trying to bring a section of ground up from under where the acid bath is.
