Strength and constitution don't help quite as much when you're not on solid footing. The barrage of vines pushes Omega Red away a fair distance, cutting short the attempt by the tentacle to get hold of Tom just yet. He lands with a snarl and then sends a tentacle at each of them.
Kill 'em all and don't bother sorting it out later.
