The announcement immediately set things into a buzz. Even though he's at the U.N., not in Washington, there's immediately all manner of international support going to the senators, as well as lobbying on what to back, as registration has immediate international impact. Some nations are using this as evidence that terrorists aren't to be negotiated with, ever. Others are urging rapid consideration of the bill.
Andrew, meanwhile, has spent the time since the announcement loudly disavowing any connection between the MLF and Genosha. This couldn't possibly be worse timing, just as he was making some progress.
And, of course, there's the question of 'does he get involved?' should something be turned up.
