He nods, letting his dream manifestations fade so he can withdraw without leaving any impressions of his own in her mind. He returns to his dream avatar, and eventually leaves Anya alone with the disassembled pieces as he fades.
Back in the real world, sweaty and exhausted, he mars the circle to end its effects, covers Anya with a blanket, and carries her back to the school.
