She had a few good points.

"Both my parents figured I should learn to use a gun and a knife when I was little, since most girls wouldn't know. They weren't crazy obsessive about it, like the movies, but Dad took me to the range every now and then, and Mom made sure I'd never be an easy mark for a mugger in the Bronx." she says.
"Do your parents know that you can...that you're..." Melissa wanted to say the word mutant, but until now, she'd never known one and she didn't want to use the word if it was the equivalent of the N-word or something.
