When the summons had arrived (an Atlantean ship showing on Canada's shore tended to get a lot of attention), Marrina had been confused, and had only become more so when informed that she was needed for a matter of the blood.
But she had come. He was family, her father (not that Dan Smallwood was not also her father, in ever way which mattered), and he needed her. That was enough.
It had taken far too much time to convince Mason that his coming along was not a good idea. Whatever it was was too important to worry about what might happen to her boyfriend.
She was ushered into the throne room. "Hello, Father," she said. "Your messenger said... you needed me?"
