"It's stupid, Nick." She gave him a shy smile, his hand still on hers, not moving or budging. "It's jus' ... ah don' know. Ah kinda like you. But it's you know, too soon for you to consider dat, an' well... ah should get back to work, an' finish eattin' ..." She was stammering, trying to hide the fact that she told Nick she "liked" him.
She did like him. He understood her, encouraged her, and despite his absence from the shop... he still seemed to be there. Truth be told, Alisa knew he would never go for a real relationship. He was a man on the move, a nomad of sorts. He did not need her to admit she had feelings for him. It was probably the last thing he needed to hear from her.
