Once again, he's impressed. He wanted to take her down in such a way she could still fight - they'll need her. But she's tougher than he thought most humans got, and even slowed down, faster.
When she swings, he's seen the blow coming, and catches the sword in hand, trying to hold it long enough to set her up for a sapping uppercut.
