The delay that Irina causes is just enough that the blade slows long enough for Harmony to not only develop a shield of sorts but also to put a little distance between herself and the flaming sword. She can feel the heat, though, and as the beast regathers its attack, she can feel her skin start to burn about her chest, right where the point is aimed.
