An other year older(Open)

Lynch was celebrating her birthday the same way she usually did, she was going out to a bar to do some drinking. She was going to a local bar within walking distance of where she was living that she had been to a couple times before. It was nice and could get a little bit busy which she liked.

When she got to the bar she order herself a beer and sat down at the bar.

Between the dead girl and the vampire attack Shelly had been busy. When she added in her regular practice to the schedule the word "overbooked" came to mind. She needed a break and a break typically meant a beer and despite her poised, elegant bearing, Shelly liked a good bar over something more frilly. She avoided the fine clubs on the Gold Coast and went straight for something more down to earth.

Grabbing her own beer, she sat down and discovered the small blonde sitting just a stool down from her wasn't entirely unfamiliar.

"Small world," she said, offering the other woman something of a smile.

“Small world indeed,” Lynch says to Shelly as she sat down next her before taking a drink of her beer. “So how have things been since we last talked.”

"Increasingly weird. There was an attack on a couple of people the other night. I was...drawn there by an amulet found on our dead body. There were some cultists. I think it's all connected." She sighed. "How've you been?"

“Sounds like you had an interesting night,” Karen said a little disappointed she wasn’t there. “Well I’ve been dealing with police politics, someone very much does not want me on this case and if it weren’t for out much the police chief likes me right now I would be off it and possibly looking for another job. By the way you got clearance to have to body for investigation.”

"Thank you. With any luck there will be clues and we can shut down this mess before it gets worse. We definitely will need your help. Do you have a personal cell or something I can message should weird things develop?"

“Sure though you could just call 911 since weird will just get sent to me anyways, but here,” Lynch says before writing her number down on a napkin for her. Karen did think it was a little funny she was doing this for a girl he had more expected that if she was giving out her phone number on a napkin it would be to some hot guy.

"I generally like to avoid calling 911 over things that most would deem to be curious in nature. I find it takes too long and raises too many questions that are better left to the actual professionals such as yourself and I." Shelly took the number and slipped it into her pocket. She was certain it would come in handy at some point.

"So how long have you been in Chicago?"
