Steve knew that she had a point. He didn't expect her guilt to just go away, though she had nothing to feel guilty about. He'd been helping her work through that enough to know that much at least.
And she was probably right about people needing second chances.
But it did raise the question, to his mind anyway, about why did it have to be her doing it? Steve understood about stepping up, about taking responsibility, but Anya sometimes... tried to take too much on. He'd seen this time and time again with her, especially where the company had been involved. She wanted to do everything, save everyone. Most of the time, he found it admirable, endearing, if puzzling.
"This means a lot to you," he said. It wasn't a question. "Then it means a lot to me too."
