She herds him to the couch. The way she is carrying herself is showing a mothering air. If she met the right person, it was obvious that she might have a family one day. But she didn't date at all.
"Sit, kiddo. Drink some tea. Then when you feel calm tell me what happened. Start at the beginning, Jack. Just take it slow."
