She'd only been half diamond when the store both simultaneously collapsed and imploded on itself and the angle she'd been standing at wasn't exactly diamond side up. The steel girder that had been part of the ceiling-spanning truss had smashed down into her as half the roof tumbled down behind. She'd screamed but then gone silent. Somewhere beneath the steel, glass, and other rubble, Tina lay twisted, a chunk of rebar sticking from her side. It would have gone clean through except it had hit her half-diamond side.
