Joey knew he was about to hit below the belt, but he had to to get the point across.
"Cassidy. That kid needs to be protected at all costs, Tina. The more people who know what went down in Georgia, the worse it gets for him. Right now, the whole world thinks it was two groups of mutants fighting that blew up that town. There are 3,000 plus dead people that mark the whole thing." Joey says.
"Cassidy didn't meant to do that, but if they find him, who do you think is going to care? People like that Adrian Carver guy already think mutants need to be locked up after that whole Statue of Liberty business a few months back. If they found out a sixteen year old kid just leveled a city...they wouldn't wait. They'd kill every mutant they saw to get even.
Justin's probably heard about what happened by now. If you tell him you were a part of that, how do you think he'll react? He's gonna have questions. How? Why? Who? Any answer you give that isn't 'Cassidy' is a lie.
And how do you know Justin won't turn Cassidy in himself if he knows?" Joey asks.
