"I will make it if you'll make cheesecake for dessert." If he hadn't been so determined to impress upon her that this was a meeting, she'd suggest they leave here, pick up cheesecake fixings and go back to her place. Except her apartment was literally not lived in and had nothing in the way of food. There was coffee in the freezer and sugar packets in a jar by over the stove. It was enough to get a body up in the morning and out to find real food.
"I like the drama of sunsets when I'm facing West, but I have to admit sunrises are fun to watch, too. Cup of coffee, sitting in the sun with the daily crossword, watching the world wake up. I like knowing it'll all last one more day."
She leaned on an elbow, chin in her palm. "You are an interrogator. Is this a professional trait or were you the three year old asking 'Why?' all the time?"
