Happy Belated Birthday!
With Sydney in SHIELD medical and turning into a bug, Elise's birthday almost pass unnoticed. Almost. Thankfully Anya caught it and was able to get her something. A Visa gift card with $250 on it. Elise had arrived with the clothes on her back and Anya knew she could use more clothes. Shopping was never a bad thing.

Along with the gift card and a card left in her room, there was a big chocolate cake on the counter with her name on it. And a warning that if anyone else ate it they would suffer dire consequences.

Elise had come back to change shirts. She had a total of two and one she'd spilled something on and while she recognized that she needed more, she figured that would happen eventually. For the time being, she had what she had.

Then she noticed the card. And the gift card. Her birthday. How had Anya found out? Elise was not one for celebrating the day the fruits of her parents' disgusting labors had come to pass. She pocketed moved, cards in tow, out to the kitchen intent on writing a polite thanks-but-I-can't-accept note when she saw the cake.

Elise had never had a birthday cake before and she stood staring at it.

"I see someone beat me to the punch. Oh well." Victor chuckles from behind her. "Here, feliz cumpleaños a tí." He holds up a gift bag he'd picked up at the drug store. He wasn't heavy on cash, but he'd done what he could.

Inside the bag was an 'I <3 Boston' tee, a Celtics keychain, and a carefully written card entitling the recipient to a homemade Mexican dinner.

Victor surprised her and she turned around, blue eyes wide.

"I...have never had a birthday cake before." There was still a numb sense of shock reflected on her face as she accepted the bag. The t-shirt earned a sparkle of a smile in her eyes and the card, with the dinner information, earned a real one.

"My birthday is not something to celebrate, Victor...but I'm not certain I can refuse Mexican food. Thank you."
