Braddock LeBeau had only been at Xavier's for a few days, but between all the kids, the warning from his old man (who really had
no sense of adventure), and the general boredom he felt at Xavier's, he needed an out.
Maybe New Orleans was fun in this dimension.
He and Gambit (why was he still using that silly codename anyway?) didn't see eye to eye on a lot of stuff, so Brad made arrangement to borrow a car in the garage to use for his trip. He didn't have any gear, so he was on his way out the front door when he ran into the last thing he expected to see.
An angel.
"So, I'm guessin' you're here to take me to heaven for all my sins. Right?" he asks, throwing the woman his best smile.
