Though he knows Marlow is joking, Matt realizes that if it comes down to it, he really will have to stand up and deal with Marlow if something goes wrong. It's what he's been trained to do since he was younger.
It doesn't mean that he likes the idea of it at all.
"Well, it won't come to that. We won't let it get that far." Matt says.
