That's what he was looking for. Much as there's likely some very bad blood here, they don't need to take these people out, not while there's still hostages in danger, just deal with them quickly and efficiently.
As soon as her eyes are closed, he's in motion, trying to get behind her long enough to grab her by the hair and take off, trying to get enough height before she knows what's happening that he can toss her into New York Harbor.
