The soldiers go flying in all directions under Ryan and Svalin's attack. Still, there are quite a few of them still standing and they weren't above firing with their weapons.
Machinesmith was focused on getting the documents that he didn't notice the Tiny Human at first, but when the blasts start he does notice. He tried to swat at the little person.
