Definitely Not In Kansas Anymore
One moment she was in a front yard in the middle of nowhere Missouri getting ready to kick the ass of captain von weirdo.  The next she was in more pain than she'd ever felt before--which was saying something given the last three missions--and then...nothing.  How long the nothing lasted she wasn't sure.  Time was the last thing she was thinking about because instead of being a nice, comfortable fall day it was suddenly ridiculously hot.  There were also guys wearing what looked like togas standing around her where she lay semi-face down on the ground.  And they were yelling at her in....Latin?

Oh shit.

"Um...hi."

Tina suddenly wished she'd been paying closer attention reading that book on Ancient Rome.  Or that she'd managed to finish it.  She made a mental note that if she ever got home, she was buying a Kindle.

There are three very noticeable things about the guy who's helping Tina out of the dirt.

First, he is at least a head taller than everyone else present.
Second, he is flanked by a couple of soldiers.
Third, his smile practically oozes sleaze.

If she's in any position to remember pictures of statues of Gaius Julius Caesar, the resemblance is there.

The face that was grinning at her as he extended a hand was the same face that was on the cover of the book, though this one wasn't made of marble and reminded her a great deal of a couple of the Shaw's....customers. Tina felt her stomach lurch but managed to stand up and maintain some bearing of posture even though she was being looked at like she was dinner. Or dessert.

"Lord Caesar..." she hoped she had at least a reasonable greeting. The language she was okay with. The customs, not so much.

"Seems you've had quite a tumble, young lady. Why don't you get out of the heat." It's not a question. "This way."

"Oh...okay." Tina offered a smile. "Thank you."

Now to figure out where Caesar was taking her. She sniffed the air a bit. They couldn't be too far from the royal residence. It smelled too nice to be anywhere else.

Caesar would object to the term 'royal' on technical political grounds, but the place sure looks like one. He'll escort her into a suite, see that she gets something to drink and a chance to tidy up a little. There are guards and staff pretty much everywhere, though.

Tina looked around the suite a bit. The place was really fancy, nicer than she expected. She would have liked to have been able to enjoy looking around but she couldn't. Alone with a guard and a servant, she felt ill at ease. That she was in X-Force uniform and strange looking didn't help, though a servant quickly remedied that.

About an hour later, Tina had transformed into a Roman version of herself. It suited her and it was surprisingly comfortable, something she considered as she looked out a balcony at the world beyond the window.

She wondered where her friends were.

And suddenly, the soldier and the servant get very unobtrusive. Completely unobtrusive, in fact. Caeasar's back. "Everything to your liking, young lady?"

Tina turned and looked at the man. She had to give historians some credit; they had gotten their likenesses damn close to the real man.

"It's quite nice, thank you. I appreciate your assistance and kindness. I'm certain my...detail will be looking for me soon and they too will be greatful that you assisted me so well."

He steps a little closer. "Oh? And when would you be expecting them?" A little closer.

"I'm sure they are at this very moment trying to locate me. It may take them a bit of time."

She smiled again and carefully moved a bit to the side to admire the artifacts of the room.

"This room is lovely, Lord Caesar."

"Yes, it's nice, isn't it? I considered putting my son and his mother in this suite, but I found them someplace else. It's more of an adult's room. For ...adults' purposes."

And he's still stepping forward, a man who's not used to hearing 'No' from women, men, girls, or boys. He reaches...

Christina was no stranger to the perversions of men, particularly men with power. Caesar was falling very neatly into the same old...er...patterns of behavior that she'd seen more times than she'd like to count. She wasn't particularly interested in revisiting such situations.

"The room does seem a bit large and out of the way to be a comfortable suite for a woman and child." She moved again, back towards the balcony, this time getting a few steps away from him all the while turning her best smile to him.

"Caesar...you haven't even asked my name. I am surprised a man of your legend and prowess and distinction would mince on the more pleasant details of...entertaining a guest."

Carefully, she put the suggestion into the man's mind that he absolutely did want to engage himself in the more polite details of things, letting him think it was somehow more erotic to play such a game. She hoped it worked.

Excellent.

Tina took the opportunity to move away from Caesar, extricating herself carefully before sitting down on a lounge.

"My name is Christina. I have to admit I'm very surprised you brought me here. Considering how I was found."

"I haven't gotten where I am today from failing to seize upon opportunities, Christina. It's an unusual name. Greek?" He had a thing for women of Greek descent.

"It is a Greek name." Christina nodded as she picked up on his preference. It dawned on her that her features might seem a little Greek as well, though she was fairly certain there wasn't any Greek in her lineage...she'd have to find out about that.

"I just assumed you'd be more cautious. Strange women in strange clothes face first in the dirt...could be a trap." She smiled, imagining what Rose would do to him if he was like this towards here.

"Perhaps, but the vast majority of unarmed persons substantially smaller than oneself, especially those who know what will be to their true advantage on the whole, are not too much of a concern." And he sidles, right beside her again.

"I'm not that much smaller than you are, Caesar. I'm also a taken woman."

A smile. "No, you are quite tall, especially for a woman." He's still got five inches and a great deal of pounds on her, though.

"And that's never stopped me before. Other people's wives, other people's husbands." His hand reaches for her wrist.

She moved to slide her wrist away.

"You're not used to hearing the word 'no'. Caesar I am very appreciative of your hospitality and am honored that you have...interest in me, but I really don't think it would be at all appropriate for...what you're seeking to occur."

"Oh, I have no issues changing your mind."

No more Miss Nice Tina. She couldn't punch Caesar--not without bringing on a whole world of pain from the guards, but she could very much stop him from his lacivious intent. Tina got in the ruler's head and very forcibly changed his whole opinion on just exactly what he was going to do with her. He'd feel it. It'd be like having a kick to the jewels...only in the brain.

"I said no, Julius."

And that's quite a mind-changer. Especially in the brain of an epileptic.

This particular seizure is serious business. He's on the floor in an instant. The guards rush in, with much cries of 'not again,' and try to deal with him as best they can.

It's not going well.

Oh shit.

How could she have forgotton this? She's had a prof in history go on about it for an entire lecture. He was epileptic. And she'd just mind fucked him on the same order of how she'd dealt with the sleazy guy in Providence. As the guards rush in, Tina's face is sheet white. One of them pulls her aside to keep her out of the way, giving her a briefly sympathetic look before turning back to the ailing Emperor. It doesn't take much to realize that he's probably not going to be okay.

Christina just killed Caesar. She's sure of it.

With all the commotion around the man it isn't difficult for her to escape the suite and she takes off down the hall, trying her best not to look entirely panic-stricken or guilty.

What now? What do I do now? Rose? Anastasia? Chris? Joey? Where are you guys? Turning a corner she is grabbed by a guard.

Whatever happens next, she doesn't know because it's the same as it all started: searing pain, then nothingness. Only blackness and a distinct feeling of falling once again.

(-end-)
